Neonyt and Innatex Recap

It started on a Monday morning, we all arrived at the office, ready to pack everything up and start our journey from Hamburg to Berlin. Me, Anna the intern, already prepared the new collection in clothing bags the day before, so everybody helped to carry all the boxes, racks, chairs ... downstairs and into the car.
Of course nothing went smoothly, a handbag got stolen (still looking for it), part of our booth didn't arrive on time, the online shop crashed and Anna and Jula, who were driving, ended up leaving the office way later than planned.
Well, we made it to Berlin and started decorating our booth at the Neonyt, unpacking the car for the first time. (You'll see, this will be a running theme.) Being thrown out at about 10pm, we weren't quite ready for Tuesday, the first exhibition day.
The actual trade show days went smoothly, more team member arrived and we tried to answer all the questions the buyers had about what makes JAN 'N JUNE special (the chic and sustainable style), how we managed to make such soft knit pieces (thanks to our new knit supplier in Portugal and to our co-founders Anna and Jula for choosing so well) and how we manage to keep our cool through all the hectic around us (definitely because of the great team. And the cookies.)
Tuesday was the Neonyt Party and who would ever say no to free drinks? We also stopped by at a gathering on Wednesday where we had the chance to talk to owners of shops that sell us on a more private note. Our favourite Vietnamese place was the evening programm for Thursday, where we celebrated the successful end of Neonyt! We always go there on the last day of the trade show and some say it's because the Gin Tonic is good and cheap.
The car has been packed again, everyone was tired but this is not the end yet!
Vroni, Marie, Maya at Innatex
Maya, Marie and Vroni collected all leftover strength and made their way to Wallau, where they unpacked the car again. We took part in the Innatex for the first time, because it's a pretty long way down south. We met new brands that didn't come all the way to Berlin and talked to our costumers from the south, who had the chance to look through the collection outside of Berlin or Hamburg.
On Tuesday the team arrived back in Hamburg, tired but happy about the successful last 10 days. We all helped unload the car for the last time.
All in all, a super exhausting yet successful week!

Januar ist Messemonat!
Wir haben unsere AW20/21-Kollektion diesen Monat auf zwei Messen präsentiert, der Neonyt in Berlin und der Innatex in Wallau bei Wiesbaden.
Neonyt ist ein Teil der Fashionweek in Berlin, die unter diesem Namen zum zweiten Mal stattfand- der der Schwerpunkt liegt auf Nachhaltigkeit und Innovation in der Fashion Branche.
Die Innatex hingegen findet seit etwa 25 Jahren statt und zeigt nicht nur Mode, sondern auch Heimtextilien und Kidswear. Natürlich auch mit einem Schwerpunkt für Nachhaltigkeit und eine faire Lieferkette.
Auf diesen Messen sehen sich die Einkäufer*innen die neue JAN 'N JUNE Kollektion an und entscheiden, welche Stücke sie in ihren Geschäften verkaufen wollen. Üblicherweise läuft das so ab:
Die tatsächliche Messetage verliefen reibungslos, weitere Teammitglieder trafen ein, und wir versuchten, alle Fragen zu beantworten, die uns die Einkäufer stellten. Was das Besondere an JAN 'N JUNE ist (der schicke, aber dennoch erschwingliche Stil), wieso unsere Strickteile so weich sind (dank unserer neuen Fabrik in Portugal und dank Anna und Jula, die so gut gewählt haben) und wie wir es schaffen, in all der Hektik um uns herum einen kühlen Kopf zu bewahren (definitiv wegen des tollen Teams. Und der Kekse.)
Dienstag war die Neonyt-Party, und wer würde schon nein sagen zu gratis Drinks?
Unser vietnamesisches Lieblingsrestaurant war das Abendprogramm am Donnerstag, wo wir traditionell das erfolgreiche Ende der Neonyt feierten und (noch traditioneller) mit Gin&Tonic anstießen.
Das war es aber noch nicht!
Maya, Marie und Vroni sammelten alle restlichen Kräfte und machten sich auf den Weg nach Wallau, irgendwo im nirgendwo bei Frankfurt, wo sie das Auto wieder auspackten. Wir haben zum ersten Mal an der Innatex teilgenommen, denn es ist ja doch ein ziemlich langer Weg nach Süden. So hatten unsere Einzelhändler aus dem Süden auch die Möglichkeit, sich alle neuen JAN 'N JUNE Stücke in Echt anzusehen.
Dienstag war das ganze Team wieder in Hamburg, müde aber glücklich über die erfolgreichen letzten 10 Tage. Wir alle halfen beim letzten Ausladen des Autos und brachten die Sachen wieder in unser schönes Büro.
Alles in allem, super anstrengend, aber super erfolgreich.

January is for trade shows!
We presented our AW20/21 collection at two sustainable fairs that month, Neonyt in Berlin and Innatex in Wallau nearby Wiesbaden. Neonyt is a part of the Berlin Fashion Week and the focus lies on sustainability and innovation in fashion. Innatex on the other hand is a happening for about 25 years now and they focus not only on fashion, but on home textile and kidswear as well. Many buyers from shops all over Europe are visiting to order our new sustainable collection for their (fair fashion) shops. Have you ever wondered how the whole process looks like? At the fairs offline retailers have a look at the new collection and decide, which pieces they will sell in their shops. The usual procedure goes like that:- The buyer looks through the whole collection and gets a first impression of the cuts, textiles used and colors.
- They pick their favorite pieces based on their personal taste but more important based on their customers taste.
- Final decisions are made! How much a shop orders and which variety also stands in relation to the size of their store and on the budget they have available von JAN 'N JUNE.
- We add all orders to our collection management and will arrange production (which takes around 6 months).
- When the new season starts (Autumn/winter starts end of July (yes really!)) the shops finally receive the items they ordered.

- Wir sammeln alle Ordern am Ende der Orderphase und übertragen sie in das Collection Management. Die Produktion geht in den Auftrag.
- Zum Start der Saison (etwa 6 Monate nach den Messen) bekommen die Läden ihre Ware ausgeliefert.
