THE OFFCUT PROJECT

Our newest addition to the offcut project: cosmetic bags! Partly made of ECONYL®, which is a yarn made of 100% regenerated nylon fiber from pre and post-consumer nylon waste. The feel of the material is comparable to that of a bikini, therefore the material is quite flowy and fluent. So if you spill some makeup or powder they are very easy to wipe clean. The bag features two compartments inside to store small items like jewelry. They come in four different colors.

Measurements: 25cm x 12,5 x 16cm

65% regenerated nylon (polyamide) / 35% elastane // 65% regeneriertes Nylon (Polyamid) / 35% Elasthan
The polyamide is regenerated from waste using GRS certified ECONYL® yarn.

COSMETIC BAG is made of regenerated nylon - a responsible choice and easy to take care of:

  • hand wash only
  • no softener
  • no ironing (no wrinkles anyway, we promise!).
To avoid microplastics floating from your washing machine to the seas, please use a Guppyfriend washing bag

1. design

Our founders Anna and Jula still do all of the design work themselves. They are mastering that challenge, despite living in two different countries. Luckily they're pros at long-distance teamwork.

So the design process is split between Hamburg and Dubai.

2. raw material

Virgin polyamide is made from crude oil - a finite resource with a higher environmental impact. That’s why we’ve chosen to work with ECONYL® regenerated nylon instead. ECONYL® yarn is made by Italian manufacturer Aquafil. It’s produced through a regeneration process that transforms nylon waste - like fishing nets, fabric scraps, and industrial plastic - into high-quality nylon yarn. The process takes place at their facility in Slovenia and allows existing materials to be brought back into the loop, without compromising performance or quality. The elastane in this fabric comes from a manufacturer based in Northern Ireland. Want to know more? Check out the material guide here.

3. yarn production

No matter which fibers we are talking about, they have to be spun into a yarn for further production steps.

The yarn production takes place in Ljubliana, Slowenia.

4. fabric production

The next step of our Supply Chain is to knit the yarn into a fabric.
The fabric production is located in Carvico, Italy.

5. manufacturing

That's where all the magic happens!
Our manufacturers receive the patterns, fabrics, andother components like buttons or zippers and make them into a garment.

This piece is made in Wroclaw, Poland.

6. distribution

As some of you may remember, we used to do the shipping and warehouse management in our Headquarter in Hamburg by ourselves - yes, that was a lot of work!

Since 2020 we are working with our amazing logistics partner Livipur, which is located in Bad Homburg, Germany
